Singing together, we create community through celebration.

WHEN: February 2nd, 3:30 - 5PM. Doors open at 3:20 PM

WHERE: Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists, 1606 Bonita Ave, Berkeley

WHAT TO BRING: A water bottle and an open heart.

Optional: Small natural object for the altar

Potluck food or beverage to share

We'll have time at the end to socialize

Q: May I bring my child?

A: Yes! Children are warmly welcome, and may join for free, with the caveat that the songs we will sing are geared more towards an adult attention span.  If you bring a child, please also bring a quiet, non-screen activity for them to do, just in case.

About Imbolc

Imbolc marks the halfway point between winter and spring. This Celtic festival honors Brigid, goddess of fertility and inspiration.  At this time, we honor spring's stirrings under the ground, as well as the stirrings of new dreams within us. Through singing, we participate in this process of rebirth and re-creation.

Imagine this...

If you've seen our stage productions or listened to our albums, you've already experienced the Revels spirit - a village of caring people, connecting around a shared intention to honor the turning of the season's wheel. A village who sings together, dances together, and "dearly loves our friends".

This musical gathering invites you to viscerally experience the magic that is Revels from the inside, as we come together in care, camaraderie, laughter and music, to savor the musical traditions that make Revels special.

What We'll Sing

  • Hypnotic rounds and chants
  • Easy to learn layer songs in three part harmony.
  • New and traditional songs honoring spring's dreams stirring in the soil.
  • Songs so beautiful, you won’t believe how easy they are to learn.

Supporting the Revels

The ticket cost for this event will be $25 per person, no-one turned away for lack of funds. Proceeds benefit the California Revels, a registered non-profit. We are fundraising to produce our yearly large scale theatrical production in celebration of the winter solstice.

Little known fact - our December shows are wildly popular (this year we sold our seven shows with a waitlist). Still, ticket sales cover less than 10% of our operating costs. For the remainder we rely on grants, donors, and the support of our community.

Every time you pay to attend a Revels event, and/or make a tax deductible donation, you help keep the Revels alive.

Thank you for supporting the Revels!

About the Teaching Artist

Noe Venable has been a soloist and lead actor for the California Revels, for which she also serves as children's music director. An award-winning music educator, Noe teaches singing as a technology of reconnection to Self, other, and the more than human world.  She leads two non-auditioned community choruses, Mothersong Chorus for Women and Nonbinary Folks and Forest Voices Children's Choir.

Also an ordained interfaith minister, Noe’s warm, nurturing teaching style makes singing accessible to persons of all levels of confidence and ability.

As a singer-songwriter and recording artist, Noe has released 8 albums of original music to critical acclaim and shared stages with Ani DiFranco, Patti Smith, Dar Williams, and many others.

Kind Words

Kind words from past singing circle participants.

Beautiful heart warming  experience I was looking for weekly! The singing circle made me feel connected to community especially in these isolated times.

- Victoria (San Francisco)

This was an incredibly powerful experience that nourished, challenged, engaged and inspired my mind, body and soul. My vulnerability turned into curiosity and eventually strength.  Singing is a gift that I continue to treasure. Thank you, for creating, guiding and holding this supportive and inclusive community with your open heart. The words and way you bring people together is remarkable.

- Christy (San Francisco)

During my time singing with Noe's chorus, I deeply appreciated the inclusive and accepting atmosphere. As someone with a recently changed voice and appearance, I had concerns about fitting in, but Noe’s reassurance and genuine support made me feel not only welcome but celebrated. The choir provided an incredible space for me to learn, grow, and connect with a diverse group of amazing people through the power of music and shared experiences. It was a truly transformative and uplifting journey that I will cherish forever.

- Seneca (San Francisco)
